Bearing Reclamation
The process for reclaiming starts with receipt of the bearing. An unique number is assigned for complete tracking of work procedures and historical trace-ability. A thorough two-step cleaning process utilizing hot water washing followed by solvent washing prepares the components for inspection. The parts are carefully examined for defects, measured for distortion and wear, with all findings documented. Any clearance checks are made before complete dis-assembly of the bearing. A formal quotation is prepared outlining the defects found and the scope of work recommended to return the bearing to like-new service status. After receipt of a purchase order, work is scheduled into the department. The department strives to complete work on-time with high quality workmanship and is eager to work directly with the customer.
To accomplish this, Service Guide’s Bearing Reclamation facility has implemented the following:
- Utilizes approximately 18,000 square feet of high-bay industrial facility
- Personnel trained and skilled in bearing inspection and repairs
- Management team of experienced bearing professionals (90 years combined)
- Climate-Controlled Gage Rooms with computer-aided measurement
- Reconditioned manual and CNC equipment
- Full inspection of components with written reports and quotation
Advantages of bearing reclamation:
- Shorter turn-around time (approximately half the time)
- Same warranty as a new bearing

- Obsolete bearings can be remanufactured
Types of Reclamation:
- Type 2 - Clean, Inspect, Polish all components, & Re-Assemble
- Type 3 - Clean, Inspect, Grind Cups, Polish Cone/Roller Assembly
- Type 3a - Clean, Inspect, Grind all Components, Re-Assemble
- Type 4 - Clean, Inspect, Grind Cups, Cones, Make new Rollers, Re-Assemble
